Andrea Frank from CPLAN and Federico Wulff Barreiro are currently organising a workshop and a round table discussion with the community of City Road area, their students, professionals and academics from the Welsh School of Architecture (WSA, Cardiff University) about the interaction between Urban Design, Design of Public Spaces and community involvement. The event will be held at The Gate theatre – on 23rd September from 19:30 to 21:00 (doors open at 19:15).

The workshop will be supported by 36 exhibition boards (ca 2x3ft each) of student design proposals for re-imagining public spaces and streets, urban voids and abandonded buildings in the City Road/Plasnewydd Neighbourhood area.

It will be discussed with all participants which could be the way of improving design methodologies to be more inclusive and participative to the public.

For an announcement of the event and further information please see  http://www.cardiff.ac.uk/cplan/events/community-involvement-for-public-space

There’s already more than 45 people which have already signed up, so we guess we will have a good participation in the event.

The website of the event and the content of the exhibition is here:   https://plasnewyddurbandesign.wordpress.com

After the event, our aim will be to display the exhibition boards at the community centre in front of The Gate to extend the exhibition for a couple of weeks after the event, we are currently discussing this with the community.

We would like to invite you all to this event on 23rd September, we think we will have interesting discussions and we might get new ideas to strengthen the collaboration between communities, the WSA and CPLAN.

Looking forward to see you all at the event!
